Vivid Yellow Canary Diamonds

Canary diamonds come in four main colors: light yellow, fancy yellow, intense yellow, and vivid yellow. These are in order in how expensive canary diamonds are of that color. Vivid yellow canary diamonds are the rarest of all the colors, making them the most expensive choice. However, quality and richness of this color is astonishing, as seen in the picture. How are these beautiful diamonds formed? Well, it has to do with foreign elements that mix with the carbon when the diamond is forming. A normal white diamond is made of pure carbon, while a canary yellow diamond is carbon mixed with other elements. The denser these elements congregate in a diamond, the darker and deeper the color yellow. Vivid yellow canary diamonds can be up to twice as expensive as light and fancy yellow diamonds. For example, a 2 ct vivid yellow canary diamond might run you around $40,000, while a 2 ct light yellow canary diamond will run you well under $20000.

Pricing of Canary Diamonds

The price of canary diamonds depends on the color of the stone, and of course the size and purity. However, if all other aspects of the diamond remained constant, the color of the canary diamond mostly controls the price of the gem. The least expensive canary diamonds are those that are light in color. You can get a light yellow canary diamond of the approximate size of .75 carats priced anywhere from $1200-1800. A fancy yellow canary diamond (slightly darker in color) of the same size might typically be priced at $2200-2500. The next two colors of the canary diamond are the rarest to find, and also the most expensive. Intense yellow, which is a very rich and pure looking canary diamond, at the same size of the previous two diamonds can be priced around $3000-3500. As you can see, the price starts to go up dramatically as you get darker in color. The last shade of canary yellow diamonds is sometimes referred to as a vivid yellow. These canary diamonds of the approximate weight of .75 carats are can be priced upwards of $5000. Of course the larger the diamond, the more expensive it is. You could be easily spending $25000 on a 1.5 carat vivid yellow canary diamond if you wished.
